Lacey James, a Lacey James Rider2015 graduate of Wayland High School, has left the Rider University basketball team in New Jersey.

James, who was named to the Class B all-state team a year ago as a Wayland hoops standout, decided to attend Rider, a Division I school, after decommitting from University of Detroit-Mercy. He also tuned down offers from the University of Toledo and Western Michigan University.

There have been reports that James is interested in returning to the Midwest to pay for Northern Illinois University, a Division I school that plays in the same conference as Western Michigan.

The 6-6 freshman was a three-year starter at Wayland and he helped the Wildcats win district and regional championships in his junior year. At Rider, he saw only limited action in the teams games this season.
