Samantha Geivett, a 2014 graduate of Wayland High School, has earned a special national academic award from the National Junior College Association. Geivett, who was named to the second unit of the all-conference volleyball team for the community colleges of Michigan last fall, was setter on the Wayland High School volleyball team two years ago that went all the way to the state Division 2 semifinals. She was a sophomore at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, where she also was setter.
