The Wayland High School Jazz Band, under the Direction of Kelli Smith,  is coming home with a superior rating (Division 1) for the sixth year in a row. The ensemble earned the honor at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District 10 Jazz Festival at Caledonia High School. Students got to work with Max Colley III from the MSU School of Music in a clinic following their performance.  The MSBOA has announced, meanwhile, that, “In light of the fast-moving situation regarding the Coronavirus and with school districts canceling events and building usage, along with the strong message from the Governor, we will cancel the 2020 MSBOA State Solo and Ensemble Festival. The health of our students and directors must be the most important consideration.”
