WHS Principal earns state award nomination

Wayland High School Principal, Santino Di Cesare,was  nominated for the 2025-2026 High School Principal of the Year by the Michigan Association of SecondarySchool Principals. 

Di Cesare was hired as assistant principal/athletic director in 2017 andwas chosen to succeed the retiring Tom Cutler as principal. Before coming to Wayland he was employed with Muskegon Oakridge Public Schools as athletic director. Before that he was athletic director for grades 7-12 at The Potter’s House High School and Middle School in Wyoming.

Di Cesare has also worked in collegiate athletics at Hope College in multiple capacities. He received a bachelor’s degree in athletic administration from Hope College, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Grand Valley State University.

While attending Hope College he earned the status of a four year letter winner, All-Conference, and All-American football player.
