Natlie Yowler of Martin was sixth in the Division 4 state meet in the shot put.

Wayland’s sprinters put on a pretty good show at the Division 2 track and field state meet, helping to enable Wayland to score 16 team points.

Wildcat speedsters put points on the board in the 100-meter dash, the 200 and the 400- and 800-meter relay races. Discus thrower Carson Noyes also had a good day, placing sixth in the event with a toss of 148-09.

Ian Thompson took fifth in the 100 with a time of 11.32 seconds. Tim Wierckz finished fourth in the 200 in 23.17, after running an impressive 22.75 in the preliminary heat.

Thompson, Cainon Fenn, Austin Reeder and Wierckz were seventh in 400 relay in 44.06 seconds. The same foursome also was seventh in 800 relay in 1:32.54.

Hopkins sophomore Mason Tomes was 18th in shot put at 42-03.

For Martin in Division 4, Mitch Jager fourth in discus with a throw of 132-04 and Natalie Yowler was sixth in shot put with an effort of 33-02.75.
