WHS to have 3 new varsity coaches for spring sports

Morgan Lee

Wayland High School will have new girls’ varsity soccer and girls’ varsity tennis coached next spring, as well as new baseball coach Mike Huberty (see earlier story).

Morgan Lee will guide the girls’ soccer team, succeeding Ben Sleeman. She is a fifth grade teacher at Pine Street Elementary. She grew up in Imlay City, graduated from Spring Arbor University in 2016 with a degree in elementary education in mathematics and integrated science.

Lee has been a part of the Wildcat girls’ basketball program.

She lives in Kentwood, where she enjoy being a health/fitness coach, researching dogs to adopt, and exploring the city of Grand Rapids.

Seth Beat

Beat, the new girls’ varsity tennis coach, graduated from Harbor Springs High School in 2001 and from Central Michigan University in 2006 with a major in mathematics education and a minor in computer science. He succeeds Bill Schaeffer.

He has been coaching the swim and dive teams at Wayland for 13 years and have been coaching girls junior varsity tennis for five years.

Beat lives in Holland, where he enjoys sailing, skiing, mountain biking and hiking.
