The Wayland High School football stadium will be host for the first time for the Michigan High School Band and Orchestra Association (MHSBOA) District marching band festival Tuesday evening, Oct. 8, beginning at 6 p.m.
“This event is very similar to when we do band festival in winter,” said Wayland band director Kelly Tilley Smith. “We aren’t competing We need volunteers like crazy in order to make this a site that works for everyone involved. We will have over 1,000 people in campus to see their favorite marching band members!”
She added that Wayland band students can only help so much because they have their own performance schedule and need to report the band room no later than 7:15 p.m. dressed in full uniform and then head out for line up at 7:45pm.
Wayland’s own performance will begin at 8 p.m.
Local music lovers and Wildcat supporters are encouraged to come and see and hear the Wayland band perform “Bohemian Rhapsody in Blue.”
“You will not be charged for entry to see the WUHS marching band,” Smith added. “If you wish to watch more bands than just our own, you will need to pay the $10 entry fee (cash only).
See the attached the performance schedule for Tuesday. Please plan on there being PLENY of traffic. Parking will be tough, and you will need to plan accordingly so you don’t miss the band!
