Both the Wayland boys’ and girls’ bowling teams emerged victorious Monday afternoon with decisions over O-K Gold Conference rival Kenowa Hills.

The boys won 26-4 and the girls 30-0.

Wayland boys captured an early 10-0 advantage over the Knights in the Baker round. The first game was 167-113 and the second 181-122.

Jayse Henkel had three out of four strikes, Raynie Arendsen had two strikes, Dominik Baker marked in all four frames with three strikes and a spare. Kyle VanEss had filled three of his four frames with three strikes and two spares.

Match one scores were Jayse Henkel 172, Raynie Arendson 155, Wil Dewing 156, Dominik Baker 230, and Kyle VanEss 201. The Wildcats took seven of nine points and already had won the match at this point.

Coach Sherry Miklusicak said, “We kept the three high scores in and grabbed two jayvee bowlers with the highest JV scores (they bowled unopposed).  Their scores were Jayse Henkel 170, Rylan Guppy 146, Louis Harnish 121, Kyle VanEss 220 and Dominik Baker 193.

The Wayland ladies had an easy time against Kenowa’s three bowlers, winning 30-0.

Coach Eric Bottrall observed, “Our OK-Gold Conference does not have the strength in numbers as it used to. Several times this year our ladies have faced a team without a full squad of five bowlers.  We need the competition.”

Scores for the Lady Wildcats were Brooke Trumbull 103, Faith Rabideau 97, Madison Bottrall 131, Izzy Botwinski 166 and Haven Baker 152 in the first game.  

In the second match it was Ava Harnish 85, Jasmine Ortiz 117, Madison Bottrall 94, Izzy Botwinski 167 and Haven Baker 159.
