The Wayland Middle School boys’ track team placed second and the girls were third at the Delton Invitational Saturday.
Seventeen middle schools competed at the first-ever Delton Invitational, including Lakeview, Hastings, Kent City, East Grand Rapids, Plainwell, Hopkins, Delton-Kellogg, Watervliet, Allegan, Fennville, Portage North, Paw Paw, Kelloggsville (Wyoming), Fennville, Comstock Northeast, Grand Rapid’s Potter’s House and Holland Black River.
Coaches Jennifer Antel and Aaron Wissner reported numerous Wildcat athletes achieved new personal records during the competition.

The boys team finished second in front of all teams except Class A Battle Creek Comstock. The girls team finished third in front of all teams except Class A Battle Creek Comstock and Kent City.
The middle school track team will be at Comstock High School Thursday, April 30 for the six-way Comstock Invitational.
