For Wayland High School varsity basketball coach Chris Jasinski, the wait is over.

Jasinski, who took over the reins of the Wildcat program last year, finally picked up his first victory after 23 tries in a 51-36 victory on the home court against O-K Gold Conference rival Cedar Springs.

Wayland now is 1-2 overall and sports the same record in league play.

The Wildcats Tuesday evening will take on O-G Gold favorite South Christian on the Sailors’ court.

In the other prep boys’ hoops ballgame Saturday, Hopkins saw its overall season record slip to 1-2 with a 54-38 non-conference loss at Hastings.
