It was a good day on the track Tuesday when both the Wayland boys’ and girls’ teams scored O-K Gold Conference dual meet victories over visiting South Christian and Wyoming.

The boys won big, 85-52 over Wyoming and 93-44 over South Christian. The Lady Wildcats prevailed 106-30 vs. Wyoming and 89-48 against South Christian.

The Wayland boys are undefeated in six league dual meets going into the Gold meet Friday.

They rounded up the usual suspects in victories.

Senior Seth Sevenski-Popma had a particularly solid day, winning the 100-meter (11.52 seconds), 200-meter (23.23 seconds) and 400-meter dashes (51.82 seconds) taking the latter two by edging standout teammate Caleb Wolf.

Senior Caleb Pletcher was first in the 3200-meter run in 11:01.41. Tryston Sloan, Austin Reeder and Devin Westfahl went 2-3-4 overall in the 110-meter high hurdles and Westfahl, Sloan Reeder were 2-3-4 in the 300 hurdles.

The Wildcat 400-, 800 and 3200-meter relay teams all had to settle for second, but the quartet of Wolf, Devin jakey, Josh Butler and Sevenski-Popma was first in the 1600 in 3:28.65.

Robert Bausick again won the shot put in 46-8 and was second in the discus, Reeder and Pletcher went 2-3 in the high jump and Elijah Veldman turned in his career best 11-6 in the pole vault for a second.

Jakey took the long jump again, eclipsing 20 feet,

After being absent from the Hopkins Invitational last weekend, junior Corrina Courser returned to the lineup to win the 200-meter dash in 26.75 and 100-meter high hurdles in 15.65. Making things even sweeter was that Mackenzie Wolf and Khylea Wells made it a Wildcat sweep in the 200.

Rylee Cronkright was a double winner by taking the 800 in 2:40.66 and the 1600 in 5:50.12. A pleasant surprise was freshman Serena VanHouten winning the 3200 and teammate Zoe Antel finishing second. Another pleasant surprise was a first by Grace Hasse in the 300-meter hurdles.

Wolf, Wells, Madelyn Probst and Courser hooked up to win the 800-meter relay handily at 1:52.2.

Jessica Hortman was third in the shot put with her career best 30-10.5 and she was third in the discus.

Probst won the high jump, Samantha Wilson cleared her best ever 7-0 to win the pole vault and Kennedy Thelen had a career best 14-3.25 to take third in the long jump.
