The Wayland boys’ varsity basketball team Friday evening lost 55-50 to perhaps one of the most underrated teams around, Forest Hills Eastern.

The Hawks sport a modest 6-5 overall record, but they own victories over Wayland and Hopkins, both of which have winning records. The Wildcats now are 8-3 overall and the Vikings are 7-3.

Cory Ainsworth scored 19 points, Ternor Hudson added 10 and Riley Fields eight.

Meanwhile, the Lady Wildcats claimed their second victory of the season with a 44-42 decision over Forest Hills Eastern, which now is 0-10 for the season overall. Wayland’s girls are now 2-7.

Sophomore Stephanie Ainsworth led the way on offense with 14 points, sophomore Parrish Hudson had eight and Sara VanderWeide seven.
