The Wayland High School boys’ bowling team defeated Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills in an O-K Gold Conference dual match Wednesday at the Rock ‘N Bowl Lanes just north of Wayland.
There was no girls’ match because Ottawa Hills does not have enough girls to field a team.
The Wildcat boys were up 6-4 after the baker games. Aydin Tolliver marked in all four of his baker frames, including four strikes.
“Our boys were definitely lined up in this portion of the event after the great baker game,” coach Sherry Miklusicak said. “Our first two frames were superb. Then there was a lane breakdown and we moved to the outside lanes one and two.
“Now we had to figure these lanes out. They seemed to less oil on the outside pair so they had to make adjustments.”
Stephen Harnish, Jayse Henkel, and Kyle VanEss took their individual points and total pins as well. High game for the ‘Cats in match one was Aydin Tolliver, rolling a 170 game. The overall score then was 13-6 in favor of Wayland.
“The match was still too close to call,” Miklusicak said. “We had to have at least three points to win, so at least three of our men out of five had to win their point. Wil Dewing, Jayse Henkel, Kyle VanEss, and Dominik Baker all took their points and total pins were won as well.”
High game in match two was Kyle VanEss’s 204.
