The Wayland boys’ varsity track team finished second Friday in the seven-team Wildcat Invitational.

The Wildcats scored 805 team points, 52 fewer than tournament champion Jenison. They were followed by Whitehall, Plainwell, Middleville Thornapple Kellogg Allegan and Martin.

Meanwhile, the Lady Wildcats placed fourth with 701.5 team points. Middleville was first with 908.5 and Martin was seventh.

Seth Sevenski-Popma captured first place in the 400-meter run with a time of 51.58 seconds.was second in the 200 with a time of 23.07 seconds. He was fourth in the 200 at 11.47 seconds.

Devin Westfahl took the 110-meter high hurdles by just seven-tenths of a second at 17.57 and he was edged in the 300 hurdles by just tewele-hundredths of a second in 45.18. Martin’s Kyle Pallett was fourth in the 110 highs at 18.18.

The 400-meter relay team was second at 45.85 seconds, featuring Devin Jakey, Ian Thompson, Josh Butler and Justin Holtz. Jakey, Thompson, Tim Wierckz and Holtz hooked up for third n the 800 relay at 1:37.43.

The 1600 relay also was second at 3:40.42, with Ashton Ordway, Butler, Sevenski-Popma and Caleb Wolf.

Elijah Gamelin, Alessandro Porta, Butler and Caleb Pletcher combined efforts for third in the 3200 relay with a time of 9:06.82.

Thrower Robert Bausick had his personal best of 137-11 in the discus, but he had to settle for third. He was runner-up in the shot put at 46-11.25.

The Wildcats took three of the top five slots in the high jump, with Austin Reeder second at 5-6, Jakey fourth at 5-6 and Caleb Pletcher fifth at 5-4.

Jakey was runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 19-0.

Corrina Courser had another splendid day individually, winning the 200-meter dash in 26.72 seconds, the 100-meter high hurdles in 15.4 seconds, both personal best performances, and was econd in the 300 hurdles at 48.83.

Rylee Cronkright finished first in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:26.42 and she was third in the 1600 in 5:44.93.

The Lady Wildcats’ 800-meter relay quartet was third at 1:55.55 with Kylea Wells, Vanessa Brown, Madelyn Probst and Courser.

Faith Guritz and Natalie Yowler, were second and third, respectively, for Martin in the shot put with throws of 31-08 and 29-11. Guritz also was runner-up in the discus at 99-0. Kiaya Warner finished third in the pole vault for the Clippers at 7-6.
