Wildcat boys’ track team bounces back from loss Tuesday

The Wayland boyCoed-Track-200x112s’ track team bounced back from defeat Tuesday to take an 84-53 O-K Gold Conference dual meet victory from Grand Rapids Catholic Central.

The Wildcats won 13 out of the 17 events and were led by double winners Macarty Carpenter, Lee Anderson and Justin Fleser.

The Lady Wildcats track team, meanwhile, suffered its second loss for the week, 95-40, to Catholic Central.

The parade of boys’ winners and their events were:

• Shot put: Macarty Carpenter — 43’7″.
• Discus: Macarty Carpenter — 113’5″.
• Pole vault: Perry Carter — 11’0″.
• 3200 relay: Perry Carter, Owen Glass, Jeremy Pletcher and Carson Nieuwenhuis —  8:33.25.
• 110-meter high hurdles: Lee Anderson — 17.75.
• 100-meter dash: Justin Fleser — 11.76.
• 800 relay: Avery Lindsey, Jacob Henderson, Devin Rosewarne and Eric Villarreal — 1:40.1
• 400 relay: Avery Lindsey, Jacob Henderson, Mason Miller and Eric Villarreal — 47.6
• 400 meters: Carson Nieuwenhuis — 53.15.
• 300 low hurdles: Lee Anderson — 44.71.
• 800 meters: Owen Glass — 2:10.12.
• 200 meter: Justin Fleser — 23.76.
1600 Relay: Justin Fleser, Owen Glass Trent Thelen and Carson Nieuwenhuis — 3:47.1.

For the girls, Jaznae Randall ran 13.77 to win the 100-meter dash. Kennedy Richardson took first in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles.Brooke Mulder was a double winner, taking the shot put (26’06”) and the discus (83’02”).

Rachel Zywiczynski took third in the 200 with a time of 30.86. Abigail Hasse took second in the 400 with a time of 1:13.75. Riley Shepherd was second in the 1600 with a time of 6:18.42.  Sydney Couturier and Kennedy Richardson tied for second in the high jump. Dav-Lynn Buttner took second in the pole vault by clearing 7 feet.
