Wildcat boys’ track team moves to 4-0 in O-K Gold

The Wayland boys track team kept its spotless dual meet record in the O-K Gold Conference intact Wednesday by defeating Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills 84.5-20.5 and South Christian 94.5-10.5.

The girls’ team, however lost a close 49-46 meet to South Christian and 59-35 to Ottawa Hills.

The meet had to be shortened because of approaching inclement weather.

Junior thrower Adam Huff improved on his school record performance in the discus by tossing it 174-4 and he recorded a personal best 53-5 in the shot put, capturing first place in both events by significant amounts.

Aidan Reeder won the open 400-meter run in 52.0 seconds and Breslin Vandenbos was runner-up.

Austin Graham checked in at 14.95 seconds to take the 110-meter high hurdles and his 40.51-second performance was good enough for first in the 300-meter hurdles.

Huff, Graham, Geno Wierckz and Landon Dunahoo hooked up to win the 400-meter relay jin 45.04 seconds. Aidan Reeder, Graham, Wierckz and Jake Reeder won the 800 relay in 1:32.49. Dylan Pallett, Vandenbos, Zachary Keene and Xander Stepek won the 3200 relay in 8:55.31.

The highlight for the Lady Wildcats was Kennedy Jasinski clearing a personal best 11-3 to win the pole vault. The school record, held by the injured Evie Mathis, is 12-3.

Maurgan Howard won the high jump at 5-6, a leap matched by Gabriel Siehlmans.

Wierckz won the long jump at 20-10.5 and teammate Justin Springs was second.

Freshman Gwen Howard took first in high jump at 4-6.The Lady Wildcats’ 400 relay turned in its best time this season with Taylor Wolf, Laney Wolf, Kennedy Jasinski and Jersey Beckwith, finishing second. The two Wolfs, Megan Brogger and Eliot Antel did the same in the 800 relay.

Mackenzie Kozitzky was second in the shot put with her best personal performance and she did the same in the discus.
