The Wayland boys’ varsity tennis team got off to a quality start for the season Wednesday with a 7-1 nonleague triumph over Kelloggsville on the Rockets’ courts.

Capturing victories during the day in singles were No. 1 Dillon Kelly, 6-4, 6-0, and No. 3 Triston Richards, 6-0 and 6-2. Teaming up to win in doubles competition were Dawson Merice and Elijah Dollarhide at No. 1, 3-6, 6-2, 14-12; Mark Musgrave and Brady Atwell at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1, and third doubles Jackson Chelsea and Elijah Kincaid, 6-0 and 6-0.

The Wildcats, coached by veteran tennis mentor Cheri Ritz, will compete next on Monday at their new home courts against Hamilton.
