The Wayland girls’ cross-country team placed sixth and the boys seventh in the O-K Gold Conference meet Tuesday at Middleville Thornapple Kellogg High School.

The Lady Wildcats finished ahead of Wyoming with 160 total points. East Grand Rapids won it with 27 points, Grand Rapids Christian was second with 58 and Forest Hills Eastern third with 62.

Junior Rylee Cronkright led the Wayland girls by placing 12th with a five-kilometer time of 20:26.8. Zoe Antel finished 31st at 21:55.43, and freshmen Haylee Jasinski 38th, Serena VanHouten 39th, Mackenzie VanderWeide 40th and Sydney Hasse 41st.

The boys’ team finished 10 points in back of Wyoming with 195. East Grand Rapids was first with 44, GR Christian had 48 and Forest Hills Eastern 64.

Jarod Geerligs led the Wildcats in 34th place at 19:31.16 and Ian Russell was 38th in 19:44.43. Andrew VanBaal was 40th, Christian Courser 41st and Steven Mosher 42nd.

The Wildcats will participate in the Allegan County meet Friday at the Martin Motor Sports Park and then will be in the Division 2 regionals at Portage Middle School Friday, Oct. 26.
