The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team earned a 15-15 tie against Grand Rapids Christian Monday, but the boys went down 25-5.

The girls were engaged in an extremely close match as it came down to the final two bowlers. They seemed to have wrapped it up, but had to settle for the deadlock because of an open frame and a great game from them.

“We will have to get it together and beat them at the conference tournament,” said boys’ coach Sherry Miklusicak.

Freshman Haley Taylor who had a personal best game of 152.

Things didn’t go as well for the guys.

“We started out well, but ran into scores much higher than ours,” Miklusicak said.

The Wildcats nearly watched a 300 rolled against them by GRC’s anchor, Elijah Herrema, who came up a little short of perfect with a fine 288.

Dillon Smith bowled well with a 199 and 202. Jared Geerligs took his point in the first match. Joe Laidler struck in three of his four Baker frames. Christian Courser spared in three of his four Baker frames.
