The Wayland boys’ varsity tennis team managed a 4-4 tie Tuesday afternoon against non-conference opponent Otsego.
Emerging as winners for the Wildcats were Rory Bessinger at first singles, 6-4, 6-1; Colin Siefert at third singles, 6-2, 6-4; Triston Richards at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-1, and the third doubles team of Brady Atwell and Isaac Russell in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 10-6.
The victory for Richards was particularly notable because it was his varsity debut this season.
Bessinger now has a 4-6 overall record in his matches.
Wayland, coached by veteran tennis and softball coach Cheri Ritz, now has an overall dual match record of 1-7-2 this season.
