The Wayland boys’ tennis team Thursday came away with a 7-1 victory over non-conference foe Lowell.

At first singles, Theo Oddy played tough against his opponent, but fell just short in the second set.

Cam Sieffert handled his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at second singles, along with wins by Jacob VanDuine at third, 6-0, 6-1, and Chesney Hudson (taking his first win as a singles player) at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Mason Babiak and Brayden Tomson fought off a consistent Lowell team at first doubles and came away with a win, 6-2, 6-4.  At second doubles, Grant Dunkle and Dawson Babiak had to go to a third set tie-breaker to collect their win.  At third doubles, Spencer Miller and Brycen Rookus were victorious, fighting off a comeback by the Red Arrows in the second set. Asher Hendricks and Malcolm Sheffer played consistent tennis and came home with a win at fourth doubles.

The Wildcats will take on the Wyoming Wolves Wednesday, Sept. 4, at home, then travel to Caledonia on Saturday, Sept. 7, for a challenging Caledonia Invitational with hardware on the line.
