Wildcats blanked by 2nd straight state-ranked foe

It’s been a challenging wee for the Wayland boys’ varsity tennis team.

The Wildcats lost Monday to a state-ranked team in Forest Hills Eastern. They lost by the same 8-0 score Wednesday afternoon to another state-ranked squad, East Grand Rapids. Both opponents are members of the O-K Gold Conference.

Coach Cheri Ritz singled out No. 2 singles for putting together a solid effort in a losing cause.

The Wildcats will return to action Monday with a dual match against Grand Rapids Christian.
