The Waylanmichael-foleyd boys’ varsity bowling team bounced back from two disappointing losses last week, but came up short in a 19-11 verdict Monday against Forest Hills Eastern.

The Wildcat boys’ rollers now are 2-6-1 on the season overall.

“It appears our boys are back!” exclaimed coach Sherry Miklusicak. “The competitive nature of tonight’s match is very encouraging for this young team. The score doesn’t indicate how very close the match this evening was.”

It appeared the Wildcats would have Baker game one wrapped up as they started with a double, followed by two spares, but they ended up losing by just three pins (147-144).
Baker game two was a bit better, as they won (163 -119), which gave them total for the Baker games as well and a 6-4 lead.

Individual game one gave Wayland three individual points, but it wasn’t enough to grab total pins for that game. Michael Foley had 189 and Dylan Roberts 177. The total pins were 836-820, so the ‘Cats were down by 16 pins, and down in overall score 10-9.

“Now things got pretty exciting in game two,” the coach said. “Michael Foley started the game with the first seven strikes! I was getting pretty excited as I remember a similar situation last year (a perfect 300 game by Cameron Heintzleman). The team was coming alive during the middle of the game and we were up by enough pins to make up the difference from game one. Unfortunately, the ninth and tenth frames were our nemesis again as we lost by just seven pins this game.”

Foley ended with an impressive 243 game and Bryan Franck had a nice 185. Total pins in this game ended up 906-899.

“If we added all pins, including Baker games, Wayland would have led 2026 – 2008,” Miklusicak said. “So we had more pins but lost 19-11. We are on our way to improving some more after a rough patch last week.”
