The Wayland boys’ varsity tennis team captured its first O-K Gold Conference dual match victory and second overall Wednesday with a 5-3 decision over Wyoming.

The Wildcats, now 1-1 in league action thus far, won three matches in singles encounters and two more in doubles. Two of the matches were three-setters in which Wayland players rallied after losing the opening contest.

Winning in singles action were Rory Bessinger at No. 1, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4; Nick Adams at third, 5-7, 6-4, 6-0; fourth Triston Richards 6-0, 6-0.

The doubles winners were No. 2 Noah Oosterhouse and Dawson Merice 6-4, 6-3 and No. 3 Isaac Russell and Brady Atwell 6-2, 6-4.

Richards, besides breezing in straight sets, improved his individual season record to 6-2.
