Wayland’s hopes to make the post-season high school football playoffs got a huge boost Friday night with a 42-26 victory at Forest Hills Eastern.

The victory, which avenged a one-point loss from a year ago, lifted the Wildcats’ overall season record to 4-2. If they can win two of their remaining three games, they will win an automatic berth with six victories. If they win just one of the three, they will be in playoff contention.

Wayland’s chances to win its homecoming game next Friday against Wyoming are rated as good, as are prospects to defeat Hamilton in a regular season ending nonleague contest.

The Wildcats have not competed in the post season since 2013.
