

It was a festive Thursday evening as the Wayland softball team members, alumni, coaches and fans celebrated 50 years of the school’s most successful athletic program.
The Wildcat softball team meanwhile lifted its overall record this season to 18-4, with a doubleheader sweep over Wyoming, 16-0 and 13-0.
Senior hurler Harmony Laker tossed a no-hitter over five innings in game two. She yielded no, runs, no hits and no walks, striking out six.
On offense, Raegan Cardosa was a standout, collecting four hits, five runs batted in, scoring two runs and drawing one walk. Shelby VanHouten was 2-for-2, with four RBIs in the nightcap. Madi Ludema was 2-for-4, with two RBIs. Harmony Laker added a single. Clara Dutkiewicz added a single. Kennedy Lown and Madison Jordan both came up with singles.
The Wildcats now are 8-0 in OK Gold Conference play They will play Constantine in the opener Saturday morning of the Centreville Invitational.
