Ternor Hudson

South Christian braved the icy and snowy elements Tuesday evening and turned back Wayland 55-41 in an O-K Gold Conference hoops matchup on the Wildcats’ floor.

The Sailors, with the triumph, pushed their overall season record to 8-3 and 4-1 in the O-K Gold Conference. They came in Tuesday night fresh from a victory over highly-regarded Grand Rapids Catholic Central over the weekend.

A back and forth first half saw the Sailors take the lead 26-17 at halftime. The hot shooting Sailors would not look back in the second half, hitting 6 of their 11 three pointers.

Senior guard Ternor Hudson was the only Wildcat to reach double figures with 11 points making three, three-pointers. Senior pivot Cory Ainsworth was held to just eight points, well below his better than 20 points per game average.  Senior forward Jack Donewald and sophomore guard Justin Holtz also had eight points apiece.

Luke Schrotenboer netted 16 points for South Christian.

The Wildcats fell to 8-4 overall with the defeat. They will play Friday evening at home against Grand Rapids Christian.

The Lady Wildcats lost Tuesday night 54-36 at South Christian. Their record now is 2-9 overall while the Sailors are 4-5.
