The Wayland boys’ varsity tennis team finished sixth Saturday in the O-K Gold Conference tennis tournament.
The Wildcats, who will finish their regular season Wednesday with a non-league dual match against Allegan, finished ahead of Wyoming in the tourney and took sixth in the league overall.
Jackson Chesley highlighted Wayland performances by winning two of his three matches, defeating his opponents from Wyoming and Middleville Thornapple Kellogg.
The Wildcats were defeated in a non-league dual match Monday, 7-1. Coach Cheri Ritz said first singles Jose Daniel Garcia lost two close sets 6-4, 6-4 and the No. 4 doubles team of Mark Musgrave and Nolan Ritz lost a 10-point tie-breaker.
