The Wayland varsity volleyball team opened its dual match and O-K Gold Conference season Tuesday with an important victory over perennial rival Grand Rapids South Christian.
The Lady Wildcats, coached by WHS alum and former Davenport University star Krissy Dill, bested the visiting Sailors in three of four matches. They prevailed 25-23, 14-25, 25-22 and 26-24.
Wayland Saturday will compete in the Portage Northern Invitational.
