
The Wayland softball team has been on a roll lately, winning its last nine ballgames.
The Wildcats Thursday defeated a team formerly tied for first place in the O-K Gold Conference standings, sweeping a doubleheader from Forest Hills Eastern, 16-4 and 15-6, lifting their league record to 8-0 and they have their sights set on yet another league crown. Overall, Wayland now is 18-6.
They bested Middleville Thornapple Kellogg Wednesday, winning the first game 9-0 and taking the second 14-1.
Offensive fireworks were provided by Madison Jordan with four hits and two runs batted in and Shelby VanHouten with six hits and three RBIs. Catcher Kaylee Lown collected five hits and five RBIs.
Meanwhile, pitchers Madi Ludema and MacKenzie Koszitsky held the Trojans at bay.

“Bonus of the night was being able to play at FHE’s beautiful new complex and the amazing sunset we got to end our night with!”
Wayland came back to the home field Friday and score a twin bill sweep over Coopersville, 13-3 and 11-8.
