The Wayland boys’ varsity tennis team opened the new season Tuesday with a 5-3 non-league loss to Hamilton.

Coach Ben Adams said, “The team played tough against a very talented Hamilton team.”

Jacob VanDuine won his match in a third set tie-breaker against a senior at third singles. Chesney Hudson and Brayden Tomson took a thrilling, two-hour match in a third set tie-breaker at first doubles, and Asher Hendricks and Malcolm Sheffer won at fourth doubles.

The team will take on Cedar Springs at home on Thursday.
