Rae Stallard ruined Ravenna’s perfect record thus far this season with a clutch double in the seventh inning.

Ravenna brought a 13-0 overall season record to Wayland and left the non-league doubleheader with a 14-1 mark after splitting a twin bills.

Wayland won the opener 6-4, but the Bulldogs came back to take the second game 7-6. The Wildcats now are 11-3 overall the campaign.

Sophomore ace Harmony Laker picked up the mound victory in game one. Her comrades had to overcome a 4-3 deficit in the bottom of the sevenths and final inning and they were up to the task by plating three runs.

Leading the offensive attack were freshman Maddi Ludema, Rae Stallard and Izzy Johnson with two hits apiece. Stallard came up with two doubles and Johnson, Lauren Wright and Carli Miklusicak had one each.

Laker gave up six hits and just one walk in seven innings of work. She fanned eight and only one of four Ravenna runs was earned.

The Bulldogs staged a four-run rally in the first inning and Wayland was able to score thrice in the fourth to tie it at 5-5. Ravenna retook the lead with two runs in the fifth and was able to hang on.

Wright and Laker both had two hits for the Wildcats eight-hit attack.Wright collected two doubles and Kaylee Lown added another, Kami Morse drilled a triple and Ludema belted yet another homer.

Carli Miklusicak gave up those two runs fifth and was charged with the pitching defeat. She came on in the third, yielded no walks and struck out one. Ludema started and went the first two and a third innings.

The Lady Wildcats now have lost once to Byron Center, unbeaten Vicksburg and previously undefeated Ravenna. They have won 11 times this spring.
