Wayland golfers took advantage of their knowledge of the Yankee Springs Golf Course and had a great round Monday, finishing second in the latest O-K Gold Conference jamboree.

The Wildcats shot a 165, lead by junior Mitch Salisbury with a 40.

“Mitch was 4 over (par) after three holes, but finished with six pars in a row,” reported coach Chris Drew.

Robert Mucci and Rory Bessinger followed with 41s. Jake Omness finished out the scoring with a 43.

“It is really nice to be so deep as a team,” Drew added. “Today we were able to use our number five and six golfers to finish second. That sure does allow everyone to play a little more relaxed. At any match, we could use any player’s score.”
