Lee Anderson hurdlesThe Wayland boys’ track team evened its record in the O-K Gold Conference at 1-1 with a 76-61 victory Wednesday over Grand Rapids Catholic Central at Houseman Field.

The Wildcats lost their season opener 78-71 to Wyoming and then dropped their first dual meet in the league last week to Middleville Thornapple Kellogg.

The Wildcats won 11 of the 19 events and were able to show off their depth in defeating the Cougars. Great performances were had by Lee Anderson, Devin Jakey, Jacob Zwiers and Jon Zuiderveen.

Individual winners for Wayland during the afternoon were:

• Macarty Carpenter in the shot put, 46’8″ and in the discus, 136’2.5″.
• Perry Carter, 11’6″ in the pole vault.
• Devin Jakey, 17’9.5″ in the long jump.
• Lee Anderson, 17.35 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 44.68 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.
• Anthony Muscarella, 57.32 in the open 400 meters.
• Owen Glass, 2:06 in the 800.
The Wildcats won three of the four relays.

The 1600 relay team of Perry Carter, Lee Anderson, Anthony Muscarella and Owen Glass finished in 4:47.25.

The 3200 relay team of Perry Carter, Caleb Pletcher, Jeremy Pletcher and Owen Glass crossed the line in 8:42.

The 400 relay of Devin Jakey, Coby Dressler, Jacob Zwiers and Eric Villarreal won in 48.34 seconds.
