Will local schools be closed all week, like Grand Rapids?

Father and son, Billy and Caleb Fifelski, have been busy this week with drivers in trouble.

The relentless winter storm that included a lot of snow, life-threatening frigid temperatures and massive blowing and drifting, continued to plague northeast Allegan County and all of West Michigan Wednesday.

Conditions were so bad that Wayland Schools Supt. Norm Taylor Wednesday afternoon announced there would be no school again Thursday, the fourth straight day of closure. Some speculated whether Hopkins, Martin and Wayland would close all week, just like the Grand Rapids Public Schools.

“Road conditions have not improved since yesterday,” reported the Allegan County Road Commission. “The wind is still causing issues with visibility. We’re getting multiple reports of vehicles stuck in the road and some abandoned. If you absolutely have to travel, please go very slow and watch for drifts and other vehicles.”
