Woman sought for providing heroin to kill Wayland man

Authoritiesashbrook-ashley are seeking Ashley Catherine Ashbrook, 30, for allegedly providing heroin to a man who died of an overdose last fall in Wayland.

Grand Rapids police said a man told them Ashbrook assaulted him near Leonard Street and Alpine Avenue around 1 p.m. Friday afternoon. He said she wanted out of his car, he tried to stop her and she assaulted him. Authorities did not say, however, why the two were in a car together.

Ashbrook is being sought for providing heroin Oct. 3 to her former neighbor on West Superior Street in Wayland, Julius Lehmoine, 28, who died from a heroin overdose that day, according to Allegan County court records.

The drug charges were filed earlier this month after an investigation by the West Michigan Enforcement Team. Authorities said the probe included extensive toxicology testing.

Ashbrook is charged in Allegan County with delivery of a controlled substance causing death. The maximum penalty for the offense is life in prison.

Ashbrook has a criminal record that includes other drug-related charges and personal protection orders taken out against her. Authorities have asked anyone who knows her whereabouts to contact the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department, Grand Ra[ids Police Department or Michigan State Police, Wayland post.
