The O-K Gold Conference this week officially lost Hastings as a member, but gained Wyoming.
Jim Haskins, commissioner of the entire O-K Conference announced Friday afternoon The Hastings Board of Education voted earlier in the week to join the Interstate Eight League. Meanwhile, athletic directors for the O-K Conference approved Wyoming moving from the O-K Black to the Gold. Jenison will move from the O-K Red to the Black.
This leaves seven conferences with seven members apiece.
The O-K Gold now will include Wayland, Wyoming, Middleville Thornapple Kellogg, Grand Rapids South Christian, Grand Rapids Christian, East Grand Rapids and Forest Hills Eastern. The league is losing Ottawa Hills, Hastings and Grand Rapids Catholic Central to other conferences.
Wyoming High School is the result of the merger in recent years of Wyoming Park and Wyoming Rogers. The nickname is the Wolves, replacing the Park’s Viking and Rogers’ Golden Hawks.
The O-K Silver Conference will have seven members with the addition of Belding to Hopkins, Kelloggsville, Wyoming Lee, North Pointe Christian, Wyoming Godwin Heights and Grandville Calvin Christian.
