The Yankee Springs Township Fire Department this morning handled a personal injury crash on the east side of the township involving both adults and children.
Emergency medical personnel was also dispatched to the scene. Command for the incident was transferred to the fire department, with law enforcement already on scene managing initial operations.
Because of the severity and location of the incident, the Michigan Department of Transportation was asked to shut down the highway, which was done promptly to ensure the safety of responders, patients and the public.
The injured parties were transported to local hospital emergency departments for evaluation and treatment.
Assisting at the scene were Mutual Aid Partners Barry County Central Dispatch, Michigan State Police (MSP), Barry County Sheriff’s Office, Thornapple Township EMS and MDOT
A spokesperson from the fire department said, “Your cooperation, professionalism, and teamwork are what make these difficult situations manageable.”
We also thank the motoring public for their patience and understanding during the roadway closure and emergency response.
