You can call this ex-Viking athlete a Marine sergeant

A lot of people fondly remember Laura Velderman as a Hopkins High School track and cross-country star who qualified for the state meet in both sports. Today, she is Marine Sgt. Laura Velderman Henricks, who just recently promoted to her present rank after serving in the Marines for a little more than two years. She graduated as a Marine from Hopkins High School in 2019. She is shown here flanked by her parents. The photo at left is her with cross-country teammate Jasmine Fisher in her prep days.

Congratulations Sgt. Velderman, a great honor, well deserved. A Non-Commissioned Officer of Marines, it doesn’t get any better than that.
