Young thespian wants to start community theater

Local youthful thespian Nathan Savinsky wants to see if a Wayland Community Theater program can be launched in the community.

Savinsky, who has been enthusiastically involved with the Wayland High School program under the direction of instructor Becky Black, posted on Facebook, “I am looking to get the ball rolling on Wayland’s first-ever Community Theatre. I have most of the logistics and branding figured out, but I just need community support and volunteers for the board.

“So, if you are interested, please comment (on Facebook) and reach out!”

Savinsky graduated from Wayland High School and is working on obtaining a bachelor of fine arts degree at Western Michigan University.

Savinsky added, “I will be hosting a meeting on Thursday, July 2, at 6 p.m. at Wayland City Park to talk about the plans for the theatre, the board of directors, and general information/Q&A.”
