The youthful Wayland boys’ varWHS golf teamsity golf team had a successful debut Friday with a 166-180 non-conference dual match victory over Byron Center.

Coach Chris Drew’s Wildcats starting unit includes three freshmen a sophomore and two juniors.

The Wildcats were lead by Robert Mucci and Carson Sevigny both shooting a 41 for the nine holes of play and Jake Omness and Rory Myers both shooting a 42.

“It was a nice start for Wayland, but there is still work to be done,” Drew commented. “This team has the ability to accomplish great things… We are very excited about the upcoming season.”

Byron Center was lead by Grant Huizenga with a 42.
