Presley Hudson, CMU advance in NCAA with upset

Wayland High School graduate Presley Hudson and the Central Michigan University women’s basketball team advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament Saturday with a 78-69 upset victory over Louisiana State University. The Chippewas, seeded 11th, now move on to Monday night’s second round game at 6:30 against third-seeded Ohio State on the Buckeyes’ home floor. Hudson, an all-state performer for Wayland, daughter of Wildcat head varsity coach Mike Hudson and sister of varsity girls’ coach Wes Hudson, scored 12 points in the contest on two threes and two free throws and she collected eight assists. She blistered the nets for 10 points in the first quarter to help CMU get off to a strong start. It was the first CMU women’s victory in the NCAA tournament ever.
