Clipper girls’ hoops fall short at Saugatuck, 46-41

The Martin girls’ basketball team’s recent winning streak came to an end at the hands of Saugatuck, 46-41, Friday evening.

The Clippers, now 8-4 overall for the season, fell behind early, 12-9 at the close of the first quarter and 25-17 at intermission. They closed the gap to 32-29 at the end of three periods, but just couldn’t overcome the deficit.

The Martin big girls played tough to make things interesting again. Jazmine Hildebrand scored 13 points and hauled down 13 rebounds. Cassidy Beazley scored 11 points and granned eight rebounds.

Kari Tiemeyer scored 17 points, Kailey Gehres 11 and Karensa Hofmeyer 10 for Saugatuck, which now also is 8-4 for the season.

Martin now is 2-3 in SAC North Division play this season.
