The Martin boys’ varsity basketball team lost 54-41 at Saugatuck Friday evening in a Southwest Athletic Conference contest.
The Clippers fell behind 17-8 at the close of the first quarter and battled back in the second quarter to come to within three points, 22-19, at intermission. But the home-standing quintet was able to pull away during the second half.
The 1-2 scoring tandem of sophomore Tanner Curry and junior Garrett Dill came up with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Jake Vermullen dropped in 20 points and gathered eight rebounds to lead the way for Saugatuck and Blake Dunn supported with 16 points.
Martin now 4-6 overall and 2-2 in the SAC North Division.
