IMG_6686Josiah Brown, a 6’10” forward from Shelbyville, has committed to play for the Grace Bible College men’s basketball team next season.

Josiah is the son of Jennie and Jim Brown, and a brother to Josh (29), Jake (27), and Jamie (24).

Grace Head Coach Gary Bailey said he is very excited about the team’s newest addition.

“Today we signed another outstanding big for our program,” said Bailey. “At 6″10” Josiah comes in as one of the team’s better three-point shooters. He is a tremendous passer and rebounder as well.  We are so happy to have a player of his caliber for the next four years to go with our outstanding recruiting class from last year.

“We are more excited about Josiah’s character and Christian testimony. He has already been working out with the players and getting to know the team and fits in very well as to who we are and what we represent.”

Brown has blossomed as a player for the Kalamazoo Cougars Home School squad, the former team of current Tiger freshman Grant Garrison. He has been coached by his father, Jim Brown, Pete Garrison, and Dave Trumble.

As a sophomore in 2014, he contributed to a National Gold Ball and Runner-Up finish.  Last season he averaged 15 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, leading the Cougars to a state championship finish. Now in his senior season he is doing a little bit of everything for the 27-1 Cougars, averaging 21.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game.

He has a high of 33 points in a game and has hit the 30+ point mark six times thus far.

“I chose GBC to learn more about the Bible and to get a good Christian education,” Josiah said. ” As for athletics, I’m excited to continue my basketball career and hopefully win some championships.”

Josiah will wear the #55 jersey for the Tigers next year.
