Sydney Urben sets records in Lady Wildcats’ shutout win

Junior standout Sydney Urben broke the school and league record for individual game score, highlighting a 30-0 shutout triumph for Wayland Wednesday over Middleville Thornapple Kellogg.

Urben’s 279 eclipsed by one pin the previous record set by Tori Gaskall in the O-KGold/Green Conference. She not only broke single game, but also rolled the highest ever two-game series with a terrific 514, once again besting Gaskall, who once had a 490.

Urban was Division 2 runner-up in last year’s state tournament.

The ladies started Wednesday afternoon with a strong Baker game of 193 with only a single open. The second Baker was a solid 180 game where they took 4 more points and 2 game Baker total of a 373.

Other leading individual scores included:

• Junior Captain Marissa BruinsSlot with a 156+198= 354
• Senior Erin Porteous with a 154+198= 352
• Senior Captain lefty Alicia Sweeney with a 152+174=326 .
Also contributing were  sophomores Mackenzie Banas with a 178 and Amber Beggs with a 147 game.

The Lady Wildcats’ second individual games were just 17 pins under a thousand .

Now 14-2-1 for the season overall, they will bowl next against Byron Center on Monday.
