Hopkins girls take out Kelloggsville for 3rd hoops victory, 52-41

The Hopkins girls’ basketballBaylee Roys passes team claimed its third victory of the season Friday evening at Kelloggsville by taking a 52-41 decision.

The Vikings, who at the start of the season nearly two months ago looked like they may not win any ballgames, have won three times this month, all over O-K Silver Conference opponents. They are now 3-2 in league play.

It was a terrific second half offensive effort that carried Hopkins, which was down 4-3 and 22-15 after the first two periods had been completed. But the tables turned by a 21-8 count in the third quarter and 16-10 in the final eight minutes, enabling the Vikings to win by double figures.

Baylee Roys led Hopkins offensively with 11 points. Shelby Michaels scored 13 points and Andrea Guzman for the Rockets.

The Vikings now are 3-9 overall and they will visit Allegan for a nonleague contest Tuesday evening.
