Martin boys finish 3rd, girls 4th in regional track meet

The Martin boys’ track team placed third with 99 points in the Division 4 regionals Friday at Gobles and the girls took fourth.

James Blackburn won the regional championship in both the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.97 seconds and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 43.12/Teammate J.R. Hildebrand was runner-up in both races, in 17.13 and in 43.94.

Senior Drake Buell and freshman Haylen Buell went 1-2 in the pole-vault at 10-3 and 9-6, respectively.

Lynsey Jager was regional champion in the discus with a toss of 104-1.

Blackburn, Jager, Gavin Meyers and Taegan Harris captured second place in the 1600 relay in 3:42.73.

Blackburn, Harris, Logan Kent and Meyers were third in the 3200 relay with a time of 8:54.46.

Tanner Bird, Bryce Robinson, Jackson Robinson and Sam Jager finished third in the 400-meter relay at 47.41 seconds.

Harris added a fifth in the high jump by clearing 5-8 and was with in the long jump at 19-0.75.

Freshman Torryn Harris came up with a third place in the open 400-meter run with a time of 1:05.02.

Sophomore Emily King was fifth in the 800 at 2:44.24.

Juniors Lauren Taylor and Autumn Hayes finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 3200-meter run.

Makala Goddard and Kaia Bozzo took fifth and six, respectively, in the 100-meter high hurdles. Goddard was fourth and Bozzo sixth in the 300 intermediates.

Elly Blackburn, Noa Martin Epsinosa, Emily King and Torryn Harris finished third in 1600 relay. Jager was fourth in the shot put.
