Lady Clippers slip to 10-7 overall with loss to Lawrence, 58-47

Martin scored first againsJazmine Hildebrandst a tough Lawrence girls’ basketball team Tuesday, but could not maintain it and eventually ended up on the short end of a 58-47 score.

The Clipper Ladies scored the first two baskets of the game but Kaytlyn Tydey and Kenisha Carter hit back to back threes to erase the Martin lead and by the end of the first quarter the Tigers enjoyed a 20-14 advantage. They led 35-27 at the half and 41-37 at the end of three quarters.

Martin closed it to two points three times and even tied it in the fourth quarter at 41 on a basket by junior pivot Jazmin Hildebrand, but Lawrence scored the next three consecutive baskets to take the lead for good.

Tidey led Lawrence with 20 points and Carter added 12. Daelynn Jackson-Peake also had 12 for the Tigers.

Hildebrand led all scorers with 21 points and Cassidy Beazley had 10.

Martin’s record fell to 10-7 on the season while Lawrence went to 12-5.

Martin will be host to Bloomingdale Friday at 5:30 p.m.
