Both the Hopkins boys’ and girls’ track teams Tuesday afternoon prevailed against O-K Silver Conference rival Wyoming Lee, 85-16 and 74-58, respectively.
The victories propelled the girls to a 3-0 dual meet record in league action this season, while the boys now are 2-1.
The Lady Vikings took first places in nine individual events and swept all four relays.
Turning in winning individual performances were:
• Julia Forbes in the 100-meter dash (12.81 seconds) and the long jump at 16-2.5.
• Laura Velderman in the 200 and 400 races, in 28.46 seconds and 66.0 seconds.
• Bailey Ballard in the 100-meter high hurdles in 17.6 seconds and in the discus with a throw of 127-10.
• Jasmine Fisher in the 1600-meter run, in 6:33.
• Meghan Schulz with a 30-4.5 put in the shot.
• Madison Snoeyink in the 3200 meters with a time of 14 minutes flat.
The winning relay combos included Shannon Henshaw, Shelby Henshaw, Meghan Schulz and Jessica Myers in the 400; Forbes, Josie Freybler, Velderman and Jennifer Reitman in the 800; Madeline Krcatovich, Emma Helder, Josie Freybler and Velderman in the 1600; and Fisher, Freybler, Snoeyink and Helder in the 3200.
The Viking boys were strong in field events and the hurdles.
They swept both shot and discus, with Clayton Frank throwing the winning shot at 40-10.25 and Chad TenBroeke 119-2 in the discus. Jacob Sytsma out leaped everybody in the high jump at 5-10 and Michael Heppe scored first in the pole vault at 8-0.
Logan Blank was first in the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.09 and Michael Heppe took the 300-meter low hurdles at 47.2.
Freshman Jacob Pastoor added a first in the 3200 run with a time of 13:10.
Two relay Hopkins quartets emerged victorious, with Zack Reitman, Heppe, Nick Belka and Dan Rausch breaking the tape first in the 1600 at 3:59 and Belka, Rausch, Pastoor and Reitman in 10:06 in the 3200.
